In this video Demi teaches you all about Finals in pinyin. Almost all chinese syllabes consist of a initial, followed by a final. The tricky bit is to distinguish different types of finals because the sound can be quite similar. Watch this and learn more about initials. Once you complete this lesson we recommend you to try our discrimation of sounds exercises to give you some practice.

Posted 11 Sep 2009 by Mooisme To whom this may concern: I'm very interested in learning Mandarin Chinese. I noticed you have a lot of exercise videos but is there any basic one that i can start off by learning Chinese? because I'm browsing through your videos but yet no luck in finding any basic one that starts out talking about the Alphabetical and the tones and Pronunciation. Also is there any books i can buy at stores that can help me learn Mandarin Chinese from the very beginning? please i really want to learn from the very beginning that way by the time i start to learn some basic words and to write or speak basic mandarin Chinese sentences i would then subscribe to your website and advance my skill. Please let me know as soon as possible if you know any information that can help me, Thank you for your time :)
Posted 17 Sep 2009 by aaa Thanks for your comment. We have a lot of material to learn chinese. A lot of it is not so basic, but we also have material for complete beginners.
We have a few basic videos about pinyin and tones. Have you had a look at those? Have you also tried the the discrimination of sounds and discrimination of tones exercises? They are great for beginners.
Very soon we will have a section where you can see a list of recommended books to learn mandarin. You shouldn't have to wait long.
Why don't you try our pronunciation tests. Trying to speak chinese from the start is the quickest way to learn the language.
